About us

The company was founded by Thomas Cachaza, a master scientific glassblower with a deep passion for the craft. After serving in the U.S. Navy, Thomas utilized the GI Bill education grant to pursue his training in scientific glassblowing. He began his career apprenticing at Lurex Scientific Glass in Vineland, NJ, where he honed his skills as a lamp worker over five years. Following this, Thomas took a position as a scientific glassblower in the research department at the Franklin Institute, where he worked through the early 1970s, further refining his expertise and contributing to scientific innovation. His legacy and craftsmanship continue to shape BioChemWare today. His apprentice Karen Knoepp took on the business after Thomas's death in 2016.  Karen is a seasoned professional with 33 years of experience in consulting and delivering top-quality scientific glassware. With a deep commitment to excellence, Karen has worked across a wide range of scientific disciplines, ensuring that our products meet the rigorous standards of research professionals. Her expertise and dedication to innovation have made BioChemWare a trusted partner in the scientific community, providing essential tools that support groundbreaking research and advancements in science.
